What is a pop-up tearoom?
Secret pop up restaurants and tearooms – also know as underground restaurants or supper clubs, have been a popular trend in the UK for a number of years now. It’s a social dining experience based in someone’s home with the informality of a dinner party but service as if you were eating in a restaurant.
Specific dietary requirements and food allergies
Unfortunately, at the moment I am unable to cater for specific dietary requirements and food allergies, we are working hard to be able to cater for these in the future.
Afternoon teas are freshly prepared for each event and tables are laid out just before your arrival time. Please ensure you arrive on time to ensure you enjoy the freshness of your food. If at all possible please let us know you have been delayed, your food can be taken back to the kitchen and kept fresh for a short time whilst you arrive.
Please try not to arrive too early. Early arrivals will be seated in our comfortable snug with our cosy log burner lit, however please bear in mind it will be pretty busy with last minute preparations and I may not have much time to chat.
Please remember when you attend a secret pop up restaurant or tearoom you are visiting someone’s private home, in this case it’s my home, please be respectful of your surroundings inside and out. We work tirelessly to keep and maintain a lovely clean, welcoming and well presented property and are constantly making improvements for the comfort of our guests.
We have a new designated car parking area right outside the front garden gates for guest convenience, please only park in the car park and do not drive on the grass.
Dogs are not permitted in the gardens, grounds or house. Please DO NOT leave your dog in your car under any circumstances or in any weather in the car park.
I have a lovely micro team of staff that help prepare and often help to serve your afternoon teas, my lovely team work very hard to ensure you have the most wonderful time. Many high class tearooms include a 15% service charge on your bill. At Gatherings it is left to your discretion but I hope you will be obliging in leaving a small tip.
On booking your secret tearoom experience a 50% deposit is payable. As this is a private event and not a regular high street tearoom I carefully select and purchase top quality produce for the number of guests that have booked, if I have a last minute cancellation or guest’s that have booked don’t arrive I have to personally cover the cost of their afternoon tea. In the event that a guest cancels last minute or doesn’t arrive the 50% deposit go someway to covering the lost costs.
If you need to cancel your booking please do so as soon as possible, I require 5 days notice for cancellations deposits are refunded for any cancellations made before 5 days of the event you have booked. If your space is filled within the 5 days prior to the event I am also happy to refund your deposit, otherwise deposits are none refundable.
I strive to give you the most enjoyable secret tearoom experience possible, however if there is something you are not happy about, please, please let us know. We are very approachable, more than happy and very willing to resolve any problems. I would hate for anyone to leave feeling they didn’t enjoy their time at my tearoom.
There are many, many attractions in the area that are specifically geared up to cater for children. As Gatherings is secret tearoom in a private home I cannot cater for small children. We have intentionally opened for adults to relax and get away from the everyday hassles of daily life. The comfort of all my guests is most important and as this is my families private home I feel that there are potentially too many hazards for me to comfortably accommodate small children. Well behaved children 12 and over are most welcome.
